aptura.io

Plugins

aptura.io plugins let you translate directly inside your design application — no file export needed. The plugin reads your text layers, sends them to aptura.io, and applies translations back — preserving all formatting and effects.

You can also upload .psd files directly on the website. After Effects projects require the plugin.

Requirements

  • After Effects 2022 or later (version 22.0+) or Photoshop 2025 or later (version 25.0+)
  • An aptura.io account — a free account works

Install the plugin

The plugin is distributed as a .zxp file. To install it, use the free ZXP Installer from aescripts.com.

  1. Open the ZXP Installer app, then drag the downloaded .zxp file onto its window. The plugin installs automatically.

  2. Restart After Effects.

  3. In the menu bar, go to Window → Extensions → aptura.io.

  1. Open the downloaded .ccx file. Photoshop installs the plugin automatically.

  2. Restart Photoshop.

  3. In the menu bar, go to Plugins → aptura.io.

Update the plugin

The plugin checks for updates automatically and shows a banner when a newer version is available. To update, download and install the latest version using the same steps above.

Translate a project

  1. Log in. Click the login button in the aptura.io panel. Your browser opens so you can sign in with your aptura.io account.

  2. Push your project. Click Push to extract all text layers and send them to aptura.io.

  3. Translate on the web. Open app.aptura.io, select your target languages, and review and edit the translations.

  4. Apply translations. Click a language in the plugin panel. In After Effects, a translated copy is created in the same folder as your project, and opened automatically. In Photoshop, you're asked where to save the translated copy.

If you push again after making changes, aptura.io updates the source text and automatically retranslates any existing languages.

Troubleshooting

Panel doesn't appear

This is the most common issue after a fresh install. Try the following:

  • Restart After Effects. The plugin only appears after a full restart.
  • Open the ZXP Installer and verify that "aptura.io" shows up in the installed list. If it doesn't, drag the plugin file onto the installer again.
  • Windows: If Windows Defender or SmartScreen blocked the ZXP Installer, right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
  • Mac: Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and check if macOS blocked the extension. Click Allow if you see a warning about aptura.io.

Login doesn't work

The plugin opens your default browser to complete sign-in. If the browser window doesn't appear, check the following:

  • Make sure your browser isn't blocking pop-ups from app.aptura.io.
  • Verify you're using the same email address as your aptura.io account.

Push fails or takes a long time

Network issues or large projects can cause push delays. Try the following:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Wait for the spinner to finish. Large projects with many text layers take longer to process.
